The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)
valve is an emission control device that
sits after the exhaust manifold on a
diesel engine and regulates the amount
of spent exhaust gas that is returned
back into the intake stream. Its purpose
is to help the engine burn fuel more
efficiently and completely by recirculating
a portion of the exhaust
fumes and running it through the
combustion process again. This results
in a cooler, more complete burn of the
fuel which decreases the vehicle’s
noxious emissions (nitrogen oxides =
NOx) by prohibiting the formation of
some harmful gases. A problem results
in the clogging of the return system
which the valve controls as soot builds
up preventing the engine from
“breathing” normally. This will cause
serious problems in engine performance
and emissions: poor idle speed,
problems of acceleration…
Product Features
Bardahl EGR Valve Cleaner will:
Eliminate soot, gums, varnish and all
carbon deposits from the intake
valves and EGR valve
Clean the intake system, intake
valves and EGR valve
Restore the circulation of air in the
combustion chamber and eliminate
poor idle speed
Allow a perfect combustion
Limit fuel overconsumption
Prevent the formation of deposits
Bardahl Egr Valve Cleaner is compatible
with particle filters and catalytic
converters.
Use
The engine must be warm.
Dismantle the hose located between the
air filter and the intake manifold, on the
outside of the air-flow sensor.
Start the engine and run until it gets to
its operating temperature. Idle at about
2000 rpm.
Spray 4 or 5 short applications of 1
second maximum into the intake pipe,
as close as possible to the EGR valve.
Wait for 1 minute and then give several
‘blips’ to the accelerator (from 1000 to
3000 rpm).
